Amobia Communications is a Network Infrastructure and Internet Services
company. We are building a next generation converged public access network
using low cost commodity wireless technology. Our focus is on the emerging
need for Wireless "Last Mile" access services.
Our strengths are in deploying and managing networks to efficiently
utilise wireless technology to build a communications platform fit for the
African continent.
Amobia is a 100% South African owned company started by driven entrepreneurs
and highly skilled and experienced network and systems engineers.

Amobia builds its network infrastructure by deploying redundant rings. These rings connect our high-sites in a way that avoid single points of failure. A
dynamic route distribution protocol is used to rapidly reroute traffic in the event of a link failure.
Each high-site is connected with two links and 2 independent backbone routers. All sites have 3 day battery backup and remote power management devices.
Amobia has a three-tier network design. A physical layer using cost effective wireless technologies, an underlying private IP network for dynamic routing and network management, and a VPN layer for customer traffic.

South Africa has a challenging telecommunications environment. Wireless
infrustructure is a key solution to our universal access needs. Wireless
networks with their rapid deployment, low cost and wide coverage, is the
revolution that will enable growth in the African communications and
Internet market.

|
All Amobia clients are connected with CPE units that support secure VPN
connections to a group of geographically distributed VPN servers. We use a
two-tier authentication system (X.509 Certs and Username/Password) and
strong cryptography to ensure your privacy.
The beauty of this model is in its flexibility for resellers or our
bigger customers who want to connect a number of remote sites to a central
head office. Amobia can supply and configure dedicated on-site VPN servers. The result is a server you can secure within your datacentre or
server room environment and all your clients will always be one (VPN) hop
away when you traceroute to them.

|
Amobia has an inclusive business model that enables resellers and ISPs to
add value (IP transit services) to our access services. Our services and
systems are engineered to enable resellers to leverage our infrastructure to
reach their customers.
